Water flossers are handy tools that clean your smile and help you prevent dental issues, like tooth decay and gum disease. They are also handy because they don’t involve slimy fingers, slippery floss, and harmed gums. However, they can be a little tricky to use due to their high-tech qualities. So, to help you use this beneficial tool, Dr. Chet B. Hawkins and our dental team are happy to give you the proper instructions needed when operating a water flosser in Houston, Texas.
To begin, turn your faucet on and fill the flosser’s tank with lukewarm water (lukewarm water is best, especially if you have sensitive teeth and gums). Then, put the tank back on the base. Don’t forget to put the lid on top. Next, select the type of flosser tip you would like to use and then place it on the handle. Finally, choose the pressure level you would like the flosser to use to clean your mouth.
While cleaning your teeth, wrap your lips around the wand (this will keep the water from spraying). Then, turn the flosser on.
The tool will begin spraying water at this point. Start by cleaning the back teeth. While doing so, hold the flosser just above the gumline at a 90-degree angle. Use this technique to clean between each tooth in your mouth. When you are done washing your smile, turn the flosser off and take the tip off the wand. You can remove the tip by pushing the eject button.
As you can see, using a water flosser is easier than you might think. However, if you have any questions or if you would like to learn more, please don’t hesitate to ask our dental team. All you need to do is dial 281-488-4242 and we will be more than happy to help you. We look forward to hearing from you!
